Walks And Walking – Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival 2013

The Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival 2013 is now under way but there is still time for you to take part as for most of the walks you just have to turn up, with no advance booking.

Launched in 2005, the Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival is amongst the largest of its kind in England. A hands-on partnership between voluntary walk leaders from a range of organisations and the local authorities situated within the Lincolnshire Wolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, they have created a lively programme of walks designed to get you out and about in this beautiful and varied landscape.

This year’s Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival 2013 launched on Saturday 18 May from the historic Scrivelsby Estate near the market town of Horncastle, and we will celebrate 16 days of intensive walking at their finale event in Walkers Are Welcome town Market Rasen on Sunday 2 June.

The Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival 2013 will be their biggest festival to date, with just over 100 walks available and equating to around 540 miles of walking. Their walks range from gentle one mile strolls on flat terrain (accessible for wheelchairs and pushchairs), to energetic day-long treks up to 20 miles in length. For the really ambitious they even offer a 36 mile walk, over two days with an overnight stop in-between.
