Walks And Walking – Dickies Walking Boots Review

Walks And WalkingDickies Walking Boots Review

Imagine my delight when I was contacted by the digital PR company for The Official Dickies Workwear Store to review a pair of DickiesStore Medway walking boots from their outdoor and country workwear range. What’s more, they have also, very kindly, agreed to let me give away a free pair to one of the lucky readers of this website! For details on how to win a free pair of DickiesStore Medway SS S3 BT please read the rest of this review.

I’ve got 2 pairs of walking boots in my fleet, Salomon Quest GTX and Scarpa SL Activ. The Salomon walking boots are for short walks in dry weather, as their grip isn’t very good, and the Scarpa walking boots are for my long hikes in any weather. So, I was really interested to see how the DickiesStore walking boots compared to my others. First impressions are they look great and having a metal toe means they’re really robust but I actually found them surprisingly light – heavier than the Salomon but just a touch lighter than the Scarpa. The lace protectors are also a good sign as they are easy to do up and release, and don’t fray the laces.

To test them out I took Tedi bivouac building in Epping Forest, so plenty of smashing, kicking and stomping opportunities for new walking boots. The walk was about 5 miles, so a long enough walking route to test for blisters and general comfort and I had Tedi on my shoulders for a few miles which also added to the weight on the boots.

Overall the DickiesStore walking boots are really comfortable, the fit is great and they’re very supportive around the ankles making them a very sensible and sturdy pair of walking boots. They look highly durable too. I was kicking and stamping on thick branches for our bivouac and they hardly look worn at all. I also skidded into a muddy ditch at one stage and they kept my feet bone dry. They must be lucky too because we also saw some of the Epping Forest Fallow Deer on our way back to the car!
