Walks And Walking – Dog Walking in Bodnant Garden National Trust

Bodnant Garden is one of the few National Trust properties that allows dogs onto their grounds. It is the “paw-fect” place for walking your dog during the winter, with lots of paths and nooks and crannies to explore, and interesting sights and smells. Whether you’re a local dog walker who comes every day or you come from further afield, all are welcome on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, until February.

For those of you that do not know, Bodnant Garden is a world-famous garden noted for its botanical collections. You can marvel at plants from all over the world grown from seed and cuttings collected over a century ago on plant-hunting expeditions. Created by five generations of one family, this 32-hectare (80-acre) garden is superbly located, with spectacular views across Snowdonia.

With expansive lawns and intimate corners, grand ponds and impressive terraces, a steep wooded valley and stream, as well as awe-inspiring plant collections, there are continually changing glorious displays of colour. Paths throughout Bodnant Garden allow visitors to explore, discover and delight in its beauty – enjoy the clean, fresh fragrances of nature.

Was really fed up to arrive at Bodnant Gardens and having walked my dog from the parking field all the way to the entrance, find dogs were not permitted on that day. Others days of the week it was permitted. What kind of crazy policy is that. It was far to hot to leave the dog in the vehicle so we had to have a very brief visit. Not every body has a handbook with the detail of such Whimsey. Frankly, I doubt I shall return even though the gardens are lovely. I was pretty fed up today.
