Mountain Warehouse’s Charity Challenge is back for 2014

Last year, UK outdoor retailer Mountain Warehouse launched its first ever Charity Challenge competition. Over 660 intrepid outdoor adventurers entered to win £5,000 for their chosen charity. This year the competition is back and it’s bigger and better with a prize pot of £10,000.

The 2013 Charity Challenge competition attracted over 90,000 votes and an impressive 50,000 Facebook shares. The £5,000 prize was awarded to Mr Michaelides, who completed the London to Brighton 60 mile bike ride in July 2013. Mr Michaedlides, who was raising money for the Tree of Hope charity, gained 13,871 votes over the two rounds of public voting and the prize money went towards life-changing surgery to help four-year-old cerebral palsy sufferer Charlie Grainger to walk.

For 2014, Mountain Warehouse welcomes back its Charity Challenge competition, with a total of £10,000 up for grabs in a variety of categories. The public vote winner will receive £5,000; £2,000 will be awarded to the Help the Heroes winner, which will be chosen by a representative of Mountain Warehouse’s Charity Challenge 2014 charity partner Help for Heroes; £2,000 to the Kilimanjaro Challenger who receives the most votes and £1,000 to the 3 Peaks Challenge winner chosen by Mountain Warehouse.

For this year’s Charity Challenge, Mountain Warehouse has partnered with Help for Heroes, a UK charity which provides long term support to Armed Forces personnel who have suffered life-changing injuries or illness as a result of their service to their country. Help for Heroes’ mission is to deliver an enduring national network of support for Britain’s wounded and their families.

Anyone taking on an outdoor challenge for charity in 2014 can enter via the Mountain Warehouse website. Entrants are encouraged to ask friends and family to vote to help them win! All entrants will receive 20% off at Mountain Warehouse so they can stock up on outdoor gear for their training and challenge.

Entry will close on July 28th 2014. Voting will open to the public until the end of August and, after a second round of voting, will close at the end of September. The final winner will be announced at the beginning of October.

About Help for Heroes

Help for Heroes offers comprehensive support to those who have suffered life-changing injuries and illnesses whilst serving our country. This is provided through grants to individuals, other Service charities, capital build projects and our four Recovery Centres across the UK which will offer support for life. The money raised by the hugely generous public has been used to support our wounded, but there is still so much more to do. Soldiers, sailors and airmen who are injured today will still need our support tomorrow and in the days that follow, for the rest of their lives. They are still battling and we won’t let them battle alone.
