Walks And Walking – Newington Walk In Kent
Walks And Walking – Newington Walk In Kent
This was a truly delightful 5 mile circular walk in Newington, just off the A20 before the Cheriton interchange in Kent.

Walks And Walking – Newington Walk In Kent – Church
We parked the car opposite the church and followed the signposts for the Elham Valley Way up the road, passed the railway museum, walking left at Peene by the next set of Elham Valley Way signposts that lead up the disused railways track through Wick Wood.
We then walked left through a gate at the next Elham Valley Way signpost to a track that ran along side Ashley Wood continuing to follow the Elham Valley Way sign posts.
We continued our walk as the Elham Valley Way lead us up to an open field where we kept to the right hand side of the trees using the wide grassy path steeply up to the top of Coombe Farm at Etchinghill, and lovely views back to Newington.
We then walked right up the lane to the road where we kept right before crossing over the road to the next set of Elham Valley Way signposts as we entered the North Downs Way.
We continued along the main track all the way to the Radio Station where we then walked left along the main track of the Elham Valley Way and Saxon Shore Way across open fields where we enjoyed 360 degree views of the Kent countryside.
We then headed steeply down to a gate at the bottom of Tolsford Hill where we then walked left through a gate and on to the Pilgrims Way.
We continued our walk along this track as it headed down through woodlands to an open field where we then walked right and the left following it’s edge to the bottom of Summerhouse Hill.
We then walked right around Summerhouse Hill following our line of direction all the way to the road with the A20 now on our right hand side.
We crossed over the road to the next set of way markers and then walked right to turn sharp left as the path reached the road down another track that lead us all the way to a lane at Frogholt House and an amazing historical building.
We continued our walk straight ahead to the next path where the road went right. We followed this track all the way back to Newington walking right by the telephone box back to our car.
This walk was 5 miles long and took Tedi and I 3 hours to complete, mainly due to lots of stopping to admire the beautiful views and eat lunch.
