Walks And Walking – Peene Quarry Country Park Walk in Kent

This is a 7.5 mile circular walk in Kent from the bottom of Castle Hill to Peene along the North Downs Way in Peene Quarry Country Park.

We parked the car at the bottom of Castle Hill and walked straight uphill to the signpost for the North Downs Way to Etchinghill.

We then walked left along the lane passed the kennels to the viewpoint about the Folkestone White Horse.

We continued our walk using the left fork and immediately turned right through the hedge and up a few steps to the next signpost for the North Downs Way and into the Peene Quarry Country Park.

We then walked left to follow the track around the fields edges to a large World War Pill Box.

We continued our walk along the North Downs Way steeply down some steps and then around to the right hand side walking parallel to Hill Lane on our left hand sides passing a stone waymarker.

We then walked left through the metal kissing gate to stay on the North Downs Way through various fields until we reached the railway tunnel.

We crossed over the stile and then walked left along the dismantled railway on the Elham Valley Way all the way to Peene.

At Peene Railway Museum we crossed straight over the road and through the wooden gate to follow this track all the way until the Folkestone White Horse came into view on our left hand side.
