Anatom Q1 Braemar Ultralight Mens Walking Shoe Review
Anatom Q1 Braemar Ultralight Mens Walking Shoe Review
The Anatom Q1 Braemar Ultralight is a fantastically comfortable walking shoe and an excellent all-rounder.
Made and tested in Scotland this is my new go-to for dry weather hiking.
The Q1 Braemar is ultralight to wear but ultraheavy on the technology used to build this superior quality shoe.
I took them out on a fairly standard 4-mile circular walk, first along flat ground and then a second 6-mile walking route.
The 4-mile walk was incredibly comfortable with no early signs they would need to be broken in.
My feet kept dry and sweat free – so great breathability for sure.
My feet felt stable and secure and there was very little slipping around, even though I was only wearing thin socks.
They were very soft and supportive on the inside and I certainly couldn’t feel any seams or stitching when I gave my toes a good wriggle.
I really love the simple design – they look really understated but very much ‘do what they say on the tin’.
Quite a few outdoor brands now build trendy City walking shoes and you could easily get away with wearing these on a rainy commute to work.
They also look great with jeans, so also perfect for a full-on family day out at a park, farm or forest.
I will definitely be wearing the Anatom Q1 Braemar Ultralight for days when a lot of walking and generally trekking about with the family is involved.
Now to the longer walk.
The 6 mile walk included a very steep ascent and descent so it was interesting to see how they coped going downhill.
The descent was particularly interesting as even though it wasn’t wet and muddy it was very dry and dusty – both weather conditions can be just as hazardous if you haven’t got the right pair of walking shoes on.
I had thicker socks on for this walk and again, my feet felt stable and secure.
The climb up was in warm weather but my feet were kept reasonably dry compared to my normal walking boots.
I do tend to exert myself uphill so sweat easily.
The shoes were great, felt great and had superb grip, even in areas where the path was less trodden and with no embedded stones or gravel to aim for.
The downhill was excellent compared to my normal walking boots and although my feet did slide a bit to the front of the shoe it wasn’t enough to cause me any kind of discomfort.
